A blog about everything even cooking

Why I love Anthony Bourdain

Its sunday night and I am currently watching my favorite episode of Anthony Bourdains show “No Reservations”. This certain episode is my favorite because it is about London and Edinburgh..I love London..everything about it..Its also the first episode of “No Reservations” I ever saw. This episode introduced me to my favorite chef Marco Pierre White, and also introduced me to food that I had never even thought of eating for example bone marrow on toast with sea salt. Before watching “No Reservations” I had always seen the commercials and just thought Anthony Bourdain a very tall, tan, old man who was sort of weird-looking, Now when I see the commercials I smile and laugh because I love Mr. Bourdain. He doesn’t hold back…at all. Anthony Bourdain says whatever pops in to his head and he doesn’t care how it will sound which makes the show completely hilarious! In one episode he was getting his hair cut on the streets and he told the barber not too short but the translation didn’t quite get through and after seeing the final result Mr. Bourdain said he looked as if he was about to get a lobotomy. Where ever he goes, no matter what happens…you laugh…the very first episode ever filmed for the show took place in paris and there is the funniest scene where Tony is tired and cold and he’s just standing there walking in a circle going “See Tony, see Tony confused, see Tony standing here”. I can’t find a clip online..but trust me it’s rather hilarious and I never get sick of seeing it. On another episode he’s sitting in a resteraunt in Germany I believe or a country near Germany where they speak german and after the waitress takes his order he says “danke” then looks at the camera and like an excited little child goes “danke means thank you in german” and just the way he says it makes you laugh your bum off. Later in the episode they go to an unknown vineyard and after interviewing the owner and tasting and then raving over the food Tony looks at the camera and says “yeah we just ruined this place” because it will soon become a top tourist destination. Bourdain also has an amazing taste in music..its fact. His favorite band is the Ramones! he sometimes wears a band t-shirt on the show and he even hangs out with Marky Ramone!! He also hangs out with Ted Nugent people!! and he’s so close with him that he calls him Uncle Ted! Label me impressed and jealous! Anthony Bourdain is just amazing, he will state his true and honest opinion on anything and he wont give a damn what you think about it, and if he doesn’t like the food he’s been given…well…he wont lie to you just because he’s on tv. In plain, I love Anthony Bourdain because he’s: honest, funny, entertaining and he’s not afraid to try new things. His show may not be for everyone but those who love his show are true fans who will stand by him till the end. :).

Thank you for reading and I hope you all have an amazing 4th of July (if you live in the states that is) if you don’t have an awesome Monday!!

At the moment..also song of the week

I’ve decided to start posting pictures that I’ve just taken and calling them at the moment. The pictures will be of anything..school notes, my pets, a book..pretty much anything im working on at the moment. This weeks “At the moment” picture is of my cat Hunter lounging on my vanity set…ladies and gentelmen…I give you Hunter..

Isnt he darling? And now, song of the week!!

I found this song while watching the amazing television show “No Reservations” the holiday special…awesome episode!! Anyways at the end Tony and his friend went to eat at a chinese food resteraunt with…wait for it…Marky Ramone (Ramone..Ramone as in The Ramones)!!! and Michale Graves! Anyways after feasting on chinese food and talking about personal tiffs with bands and Santa (yes, santa) the credits rolled and this song was played and I swooped into action on google to find it. The song I present to you readers is..”When we were Angels”!! apparently its a reworking of a Michale Graves song for Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg. The song is awesome!! totally upbeat, again the vocals are perfect..there gritty and wonderful and the fact that Marky is on drums makes the song even more special.

After learning the lyrics..goodluck not singing along, because at the  moment I’m singing as loud as I can with Michale 😉 and its addicting.

Now it feels like the holidays

I hope you all continue to have an awesome Monday and an awesome week!!

Last Holiday and my Christmas tree

At the moment I’m sitting in my living room with my pups, my mom and my absolutely amazing Christmas tree. I will be writing about my Christmas tree tomorrow (probably) so I wont go in to detail but its awesome so be excited to see pictures haha.

I believe I have good taste in movies, some movies I love just because the comedy is so stupid I laugh till I cry..those movies aren’t classy and those aren’t a great example..a great example would probably be The Big Sleep? Anyways this movie isn’t like a classic, it doesn’t captivate you and blow your mind like Citizen Kane or 8 1/2 but it does make you feel good. It is a feel good movie, like You’ve Got Mail or Please Dont Eat the Daisies (adore that movie) this movie makes me want to get outside even while it is pouring rain and start living..now I don’t know what exactly I would do or accomplish..make memories..thats it!  The movie makes you  want to conquer the world, see everything, try everything ..do everything. Another reason I love this movie so much that I smile at the mention of its title is because of all the cooking done in it..I love Chef Didier!! This movie is perfect for me at the holidays..it makes me so grateful for my life and my family and friends. Its funny and sad..mostly funny and the characters are so perfect you feel like friends.

So light a fire (only if you have a fire-place!) grab a candy cane, a cup of hot chocolate and watch this movie and feel completely grateful and at peace.

Have an amazing sunday!!! (:

The heat almost killed me..also my favorite chef

Okay so I live near the coast…I’m use to it being in the 70’s towards the end of September but for some reason it has been in the 100’s. I learned something about myself this week…I cannot live in hot weather, I can’t concentrate, I can’t cook or bake 😦 I couldn’t even sleep (okay that’s an exaggeration I did sleep but only for about 5 hours a night the rest of the time was spent tossing and turning). Today it was 86 and it actually felt cool to me! I could think again! I got a good night sleep! my cat Hunter who is a giant fur ball was no longer suffering! it was a great day. I’m writing this because I can finally think and I havent been able to post anything in a week, k so finally a point to this post of whining..My favorite chef!

drum roll please 😉

Marco Pierre White, I discovered this awesome british chef while watching “No Reservations” (<love that show). Chef White has taught many great chefs such as Gordon Ramsay, I don’t know about you but when I think of Gordon Ramsay I think of a scary tuff chef who I wouldn’t mess with but Chef White has no problem telling him what he really thinks of him (they no longer get along) and it seems like Chef White is the only person who has no problem purposely pissing off Gordon Ramsay (Chef White even made Ramsay cry once!)..its great but enough about him and Gordon. Chef White made history by being the youngest British chef to be awarded with 3 Michelin Stars at the young age of 33. Chef White is able to be such an amazing chef because he doesn’t listen to the rules or the critics he does what he knows in his mind to be right, he spends time with nature and watches how animals are and what they eat, giving him new inspiration. Chef White actually cares about the food and not just about the money and the title making him great!

“We are in an age of refinement, not invention; all the greatest dishes have been done, Mother Nature is the true artist and our job as cooks is to allow her to shine”
