A blog about everything even cooking

Christmas time has finally arrived. Christmas music has been playing non-stop for this girl *points at self* and christmas movies are the only option! nothing else! Lights are being strung up around houses, eggnog lattes are being sold at Disneyland, scarves and knit caps are now being worn by people besides hipsters and the smell of cinnamon and pure magic is filling the air. This weeks song of the week is of course a Christmas song, it was my favorite when I was younger and I use to sing it to my cat Hunter and he absolutely loved it!

It’s Santa Baby!! one of the best Christmas songs ever, true story its a fact!

I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving and I hope your week doesn’t completely suck! Think of Christmas, cinnamon, sparkly lights and family traditions if you get stuck in the holiday blues.

Thank you for reading and God bless you all!! 🙂

Song of the week : Depeche Mode

This weeks song of the week is by Depeche Mode and its awesome! if you dont like this song dont talk to me and unsubscribe! 🙂 But yes this song is amazing and interesting and unique ( which we all pretty much expect from depeche mode)  and its titled “Just can’t get enough”.

And to go along with the song of the week is a clip from an awesome show called “An Idiot Abroad”. Its a clip of Karl Pilkington dancing to the song. SO enjoy :).

Have an awesome week and enjoy these clips!

Song of the week : Young the Giant

This weeks song of the week was discovered while  deciding if I was going to like a band that I was becoming interested in…that was a confusing sentence 🙂 . Basically Young the Giant is played on the radio, two songs. “Cough Syrup” and “My body”, while listening to cough syrup like a maniac I found this song because I needed a break and let me tell you. This song is my love. I forget every time the energy that is poured in to this song. The song starts out calm and beautiful and just turns in to a crazy punk sounding mess half way towards the end and I always go crazy! I love it so much! This is the song that will pick you up off of the ground, dust you off and set you off on your merry way.

Listen to this song and become inspired to kick some serious butt out there in that world of ours!

Thank you for reading and listening and I hope everyone has an amazing rest of the week and a lovely weekend! God Bless! 🙂

Pictures of my work and song of the week

I’ve been keeping up with cake decorating class, every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30. I’m so tired and stressed at the moment from school…i’m not used to feeling this dead. Anyways here are some pics and also im happy to finally post a song of the week again! 🙂 I really have missed doing this! This weeks song of the week is Blackberry Stone by Laura Marling. I absolutely adore Laura Marling! I do believe she is the cutest little british person ever with the most amazing voice (besides Marcus Mumford, of course!)  the way she sings this song just amazes me time and time again. Her music is so beautifully calming, if Enya was folk music..this is what she would sound like.

Thank you for looking, reading and listening. I know this post was two posts kind of mushed together but I’m at the point where im just happy I got the pictures up and I can’t wait for tomorrow because I know its going to be so much better! God bless you all and I hope you all have an amazing rest of the week and a lovely weekend!

the cake class

Ive been meaning to blog more..I really have! But oh well here I am back AGAIN 🙂

I really have fallen in love with my cake decorating class, im at the point where I wait every week for Tuesday to come and that is really making me feel so much more confident about giving my life and career to  baking. The first class we decorated cookies, and the second class cake. We have learned to make dots, stars and borders and I used what I learned to make a cake for my grandparents that are visiting. When I was finished with the cake I couldn’t believe that I had learned so much in only 2 classes. I cant wait to finish the other 2 courses and start making master pieces.

Im going to try to keep up with blogging and keep everyone updated with the class 🙂

Thank you for reading and I hope everyone has a beautiful sunday and rest of the week!

Ah…i’m back :)

Life got crazy, school got ridiculous, I got behind and lost but I found the way out and im back. I’m caught up and as we speak life is pretty good. My cat Baloo who was originally an outside cat is exploring my room (it was raining I had to bring him in!) and loving it and he now has a belly and I can no longer see his bones. I finally got back to working out and going to church so I feel pretty much amazing right now.  I’m currently reading J.R.R. Tolkien’s “unfinished Tales” and finding it very fascinating. I’m getting back to my schedule of getting up at 7 working on school till 1 then working out and hopefully that will lead me to more baking and back to blogging because I really do miss it.

After recording all my Halloween movies that I watch every year (the list includes, Halloween, Nosferatu, Frankenstein, Night of the living Dead…ya know the classics?) I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that Halloween is the best time for movies. I wait every year for this time of year JUST for the movies (and maybe also the candy). Yes..yes! I get it Christmas has awesome movies too! and candy! but there’s just something about those classic thriller, slasher, mask, vampire movies that just stick with me. Right now its the best time of year, its like Christmas without the stress of shopping, money and everything else that makes christmas movies hilarious.

I’m off for now, tonight I start my first class that will teach me how to really decorate cakes and im super excited to say the very least!

Thank you for reading and hopefully I’ll be back on soon! I hope you all have an amazing rest of the week!

A quick update

Oh has life been busy..? Why yes, yes it has…and I hate it. School started two weeks earlier than I had originally planned/thought so I didn’t exactly finish my summer to-do list but I AM still working on it. I am almost done reading Lord of the Rings, I did end up making a new pie (that post will be written soon hopefully) and I just gave up on the flower bulbs so now they are completely dead in my backyard and honestly I could care less because they were annoying little things. I adopted a new outside cat (my mom has to keep reminding me that he is in fact an outside cat) named Baloo after the bear from the Jungle Book. He is absolutely darling! If I could have one pet for the rest of my life I would choose him. I recently went on an interesting trip to Vegas…learned a lot on that trip (hopefully I will also be able to write about that as well soon). Other than all that it’s just been school, visiting with a cat, and somehow losing my mind in the process. My life sounds very simple right now but it really isn’t haha.

I miss my blog, I feel like I have been neglecting a friend or a good book that I started and never finished and its bothering me. I hope to get in the groove of things and finally have a bit of an organized life so that I can start blogging again because it is truly missed!

That is all for now. I hope to be back on soon writing about Vegas and the outlet store finds and also Baloo and the pie. Thank you for reading and I hope everyone has an amazing week!!! 🙂 (It felt weird not having a picture so here ya go…:] )

Movie review : “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”

I just got back from a midnight showing of “Rise of the Plant of the Apes” and let me just say that the only reason I am able to write-up a review right now at 2 am is because I am so energized and pumped from the movie I just want to take over the world with apes (I seriously just want to run around a city with a giant group…just fight everyone..take em down!). I am no fancy movie reviewer so if that’s what you want..just leave..if you want to know if the movie kicks butt and if its amazing then keep reading.

The storyline of this movie is the following:” An origin story set in present day San Francisco, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.” – IMDb

But oh…oh! It’s so much more!!!.

When I first saw the trailer for this movie I knew I would at least rent it. I was unsure about the movie because some movies that look that amazing end up sucking sometimes or the ending is awful….I was actually freaking out about the ending of this movie throughout the entire movie because I didn’t see a good one happening..but dont worry! The ending ties it all together.

When you go and see this movie you will fall in love with 3 chimps/gorillas. There will be moments when you tear up a little. You will smile and cheer on the apes as they take down all the humans that mistreated them. At the beginning you may start out pro-human but at the end..if your normal you will be converted to pro-ape. I know when you think about a movie that’s suppose to be serious but there are apes that talk you kind of wonder how it could be taken seriously..how will they execute it so that it’s not a joke? In this movie they introduce it slowly. This film was no joke, had no stupid parts that made you shake your head in disappointment. This movie is one that I would see twice in theaters and then purchase the dvd when released.

Being tough on the movie I give it a rating of 8/10. There are no perfect movies but this movie is close.

If you are unsure about seeing this movie, just take a risk because you will love it!

Keeping up with summer promises..

i was lucky enough to see the sky like this one night

At the beginning of Summer I was very optimistic that I would be able to keep up with my Summer to-do list. At the beginning it was quite easy, I do online school so I got out 2 weeks earlier than my friends. I had tons of free time on my hands and I used it. However, when public school was let out, I found myself falling behind. I was gone for days at a time at my best friends house forgetting about the bulbs I planted in the backyard, and the recipes I wanted to try and the lord of the rings..the HUGE book I wanted to complete this Summer. When I finally remembered the promises I made to myself at the beginning of Summer I snapped out of just going with the flow and started fighting the current to get things completed. So far, I am 130 pages into the second book of The Lord of the Rings, I have about 230 pages left.. then the last book “The Return of the King” and then I am done! I feel very confident in saying this will happen! In the recipes department, I am doing just okay, I wanted to make a pie that seemed difficult to do, try two new cookie recipes that I thought up and make a cake that I saw on T.V., so far I have only made one of the cookies…I know..dissapointing BUT I have also created a new pasta dish which I posted just the other day and I have also baked two different kinds of bread. I will get the baking done. I will.

the summer pasta creation

In the gardening department…some things are flourishing while others are browning and dying. Only two bulbs have made it. But im still pretty proud of myself, my first time with bulbs and I managed to keep two alive out of five….yes, if it was a test I would have failed but it’s not so I rocked it.

Last summer was a summer full of new adventures. I tried sushi for the first time, I learned how to dive (at the age of 16, its sad I know), I got over my fear of wearing sandals in public (another sad statement haha), I got over wearing cardigans and vests with every outfit and finally found a way to be comfortable enough with myself so that I would no longer have to cover up everyday.

huntington beach 🙂

I was hoping this Summer I would somehow continue to grow..and I did. I now go to the beach every Thursday with my family and have an amazing time, last year I wouldn’t have been caught dead at the beach. I recently got in to working out and this Summer I tried tennis, which was a lot of fun! I have become more open to ideas and more open to change. I have never liked Summer time, winter is my favorite time of year. But it seems that I grow the most in Summer, during Summer I have more time and more chances to be pushed to do new things, more time to really think about nothing important and realize that the things that I once thought were a huge deal are now nothing at all. If it weren’t for the last two Summers I would still be stuck as a shy, awkward,  weird and unproud of it teenager. Today I am well aware of the fact that I am nothing like other teenagers and what is considered “normal” and I am so proud of that fact. I’m glad im weird and geeky and have weird friends because we’re awesome 🙂 .

simple- but THEE best- chicken and pasta in red sauce

K, so I made this recipe up literally two hours ago! and let me just say while I was creating it I had no idea that it was going to become such a hit in the house. I made one package of pasta and 6 pieces of chicken and its all gone! What’s amazing about this recipe is that you can make it your own, I didn’t write down any specific measurements for the spices and flavorings so you can add as much as you want or as little and claim it as your own! You will know if this pasta came out right because when you eat it, it will become the best thing you have ever eaten; this pasta will become your new death row meal!

k so for this recipe you will need the following:

  • 6 pieces of chicken thighs
  • 8 tablespoons of butter
  • garlic powder
  • fresh garlic (4 cloves about)
  • salt
  • thyme
  • chopped onion
  • canned tomato sauce (any kind, plain and spice-free is totally fine)
  • tabasco
  • 3 bay leaves
  • package of pasta (any kind)

K to start, chop the onions and mince the garlic, then set them aside on a plate. Get out the chicken and start cutting the bones out. I didn’t look up how to do this I learned on my own, I cut the skin that s covering the bone and then cut around the bone. It’s really easy! then get out powdered garlic, salt and thyme and season the chicken with it.

Get out a large sauce pan and melt the 8 tablespoons of butter, then add the onions, let them cook. When they are done place the chicken in the pan skin side down. Cook for 5 minutes over medium heat or until the skin is browned. Then flip and cook for another 5 minutes. After add the canned tomato sauce (preferably plain with no spices) and the minced garlic. Then add 3 bay leaves,(this is where you take over) salt, thyme and powdered garlic and a few hits of tabasco. After let simmer on low low heat with the lid on while the pasta cooks. When the pasta is finished plate the chicken and finish the pasta in the sauce then add the chicken back on top and add a few more hits of tabsaco. After that, the pasta is ready to be eaten!!!! 🙂

I hope that you give this pasta a try because it is amazing! It really is and its SO easy!

I hope you guys have an awesome rest of the week and thank you for reading 🙂
